Wonderful Japanese food ~

Hey!How's it going, everyone?

I've been in Melbourne for almost one year, but actually I don't miss Japanese food so much. Australia is multicultural so there are lots of asian supermarkets and it's easy to get Japanese food as well.(Those are much more expensive than you buy them in Japan though.)

Although I couldn't use the kitchen when I had stayed at a host family for 5 months, I began to work in a sushi restaurant since December  so I ate sushi so much that I got tired of it.

I'm witing about Japanese food I cooked in Australia and the memories at the time.

Nikujaga

Nikujaga is a common home-cooked  Japanese dish of meats, potetoes and onions stewed in sweetened soy sauce and mirin, sometimes with ito konnyaku and vegetables. I went to my friend's house and cooked it for the first time in Australia.

We could feel like it was absolutely delicious and we said "This is exactly what I wanted !!" because we hadn't eaten it for a while.

We were so bored due to lockdown, my Japanese flatmates said we would make chineri rice which is known on the Japanese TV show "Ogondensetsu" !!

Then , I participated because it seemed to be jolly.

I don't remember how long it took, but we definitely made it for  a long time.

It turned  into risotto and fried rice . Those tastes were better than I expected!haha

I often cooked dinner and ate it with my flatmate in the southbank such as Japanese food, cheese fondue and hot pot.Even after I moved out, we got together and enjoyed dinner together.

One day, I brought home-made dumplings.

I cooked it from flour because I couldn't find dumpling skin. The chewy and soft dumpling was yummy!

My friends cooked Tonkotsu ramen from pork bones!!

Ramen is popular in Melbourne so there are a lot of ramen restaurants though, Ramen is expensive so I hardly ever ate it.The ramen my friends cooked was absolutely delicious and it was worth it to sell it!!

They're still in Melbourne ,but the girl lives in the suburbs and the boy works in farm so we can't meet at the moment. I hope we can hang out, eat and drink together  after lockdown.

My friends said he bought a Takoyaki pan in Kmart so I looked for it but it was out of stock.I finally found it when I went Asian supermarket in Springvale.

Then, we held a Takoyaki Party! It was great!

People who are from Kansai( middle of Japan) must have Takoyaki pan ,right?haha

Anyway, I cook Japanese food by myself when I wanna eat it.

I'm planning to write about Thai food next time!

Thanks for reading it.

See you soon.

I'm going all out!!~本気と書いてマジ~

Hello,how's it going?

Today I'm writing about my diet!

I'm on a serious diet now because I have put on 3 kilos since I came here even though I had already put on lots of weight after I retired from athletics.

I don't know exactly that it is because of lockdown or study abroad.

The people here don't care about other people's appearance so much because they think everybody is different.

So I just ate whenever and whatever I wanted until I was satisfied.

Plus, I often  had snacks during break time in my online class,so you know it's obvious I can get weight easily.

Although nobody  probably cares about my body shape, I don't have confidence in my appearance and I want to be beautiful so I've decided to start being on a diet since early September.

There are a wide range of ways to diet, but I just simply think it's good to do..

Amount of exercise >dietary intake/ caloric intake

I tried to have less frequency and amount of food ,and often ran long distances , went walking for a long time when I didn't run.

Probably, I should have cared about what I have or do not only cardio exercises but also anaerobic exercise. However, I didn't want to care so much about food when I have dinner with my friends and cutting off sweets is hard for me and I thought  doing my way without stress is good to continue to go on diet so I did as much as possible.

There are lots of great place to run and I like running so I didn't feel stress to do it.

As a result that I've done it for around 3 weeks,

-3kg!! I could lose my weight!! I achieved my goal!✌︎('ω')✌︎

I don't think my body shape is not so different from before so I'll keep doing it until I get confidence.

If you have any advice or request for this blog, please write it in comment .

Every cloud has a silver lining ~

Hello, what's up?It's been getting wamer recently in Melbourne.

Anyway, since second lockdown, my English class moved online and I haven't been able to make enough money to stay here because I've worked only few hours per week, so I was really worried and depressd

However,I thought

" I am lucky, right? My family and my friends are fine and I still have some shifts.Plus, I still have  many things I can do!!!!"

Then I decided to think

"I'll be patient and I'll do what I can do now".

I can't get used to saying goodbye to my friends though.

When we learned the collocation "Silver lining",we discussed it (what's your silver lining of this situation?)

and my classmates have unique opinions such as "I realised I'm okay for being  nothing.","I could try to cook by myself." and " I didn't need to put make-up.

For me,I could not only try new things and I enjoyed something, but also I could get along with my flatmates.Although I always hang out with my friends or studied in the library before lockdown, we had to stay home due to lockdown, so we cooked dinner together, ate it , drank  somethings, danced in an ecstasy and laughed a lot!!! I'm still in Melbourne because they helped me and gave me good advice when I was really emotional and depressed.I owe a lot to them.

I also really appreciate my classmates who raised each other and my teachers who taught us enthusiastically.I joined FCE class which aims for passing Cambridge first exam  on the first of June. In the beginning, it was extremely hard and I lost my confidence ( I don't know why I had confidence before though),my weekly test was terrible. However, I learned lots of vocabulary, phrases and expressions in the class, and then I could understand gradually.Plus,we often practice speaking together and gave feedback each other so I could feel that we improved!

Although some of my classmates went back to their countries, I hope we can catch up after lockdown!!

Changing a situation and environment is not easy and takes time and we might not be able to change it, but I believe it can be good things or  bad things depending on the way of thinking.

Thanks for reading my blog! I'm planning to write about my new challenge and how I enjoy this situation.

Current Melbournes Situation ~

Hello! I wrote as for current melbourne's situation.

Currently, Melbourne is locked down again due to the increase in the number of infected people in the second wave, and this time it is stage 4 which is more severe than the first one! !! After spending 6 weeks in strict rules from the beginning of August, what was announced the other day ...

There are limitations on these activities, including travel and time limits. From 11:59pm on Sunday 13 September some changes are being made to restrictions for those in metropolitan Melbourne.

  • Two people or a household can meet outdoors for a maximum of two hours for social interaction, exercise or recreation within 5km of their home.

  • People living alone or single parents can nominate one person with whom they can form a ‘single social bubble’.  The ‘single social bubble’ allows you to visit each other for social connection.

  • childcare - remains closed except for permitted workers

  • schools - remote learning continues unless an exemption applies

  • adult education - only on-site for those on the permitted workplaces list

  • hospitality - take-away and delivery only

  • retail - essential only with others only for click and collect

  • real estate - certain permitted activities can be done in person but auctions online only

  • shopping - 1 person per household per day

  • outdoor recreation - must be within 5km, all sport and recreation facilities closed, outdoor playgrounds open

  • exercise - outdoors, up to two hours per day total, split into a maximum of two sessions. You can exercise with one other person or members of your household

We've been restricting the sort of things now  and the covid-19 positive cases  are around 50 people. However, don't you think it is too strict?!?

Actually I am really disappointed due to this terrible situation.I'm so jealous of people who travel and eat out with friends when I see  social media.

However, I have to understand and be patient so I've enjoyed running, cooking and eating dinner together with my flatmate.

It turn out to be heavy or dark.I'm gonna write as for challenges which I did due to lockdown.

See you soon:)

New challenge ~

Hello. Thanks for reading this memorable first article.

I'm Hannah, who is from Shiga,Japan. I've been in Melbourne, Australia to study abroad.

I finally graduated from my English college in the first of September. We have been restricted because of lockdown, so I have a lot of time. I thought it's time to take up  something and now I'm writing this!

I'm planning to share my daily life, useful daily information and what I found the difference between Japan and other countries.

Because I want to share with people who are not only Japanese, but also people from different countries , I'm trying to write in Japanese and English. However, probably my English skill is not good enough so please go easy on me.
